Enrollment Routine

Gone are the days of a 5-year enrollment strategic plan! Now is the time for agile and nimble planning on a daily basis. How does an enrollment manager start each day with purpose; planning for an immediate, point in time response to recruitment?

1. Metrics – EM professionals should start the day in the metrics. How does the funnel look? Where are there potential red flags? Is the outreach occurring like planned? Essentially, looking for patterns, anomalies, or changes that may require immediate adjustments in recruitment strategies.

2.Team – It’s important to check in each day with the recruitment team – even if they are on the road! A quick text, chat or call to discuss the current priorities as well as address any immediate challenges. This is the time to make any quick plan changes in priorities and/or opportunities should the need arise.

3. CRM – Each morning, EM professionals need to review the CRM to ensure that communications are firing like planned. This is the time when any real-time adjustments can be made to marketing strategies based on performance and market dynamics.

4. Document – After the metrics have been reviewed, challenges discussed and solutions identified, EM professionals should document next steps. Keeping a running document with each day’s findings and activities will allow for the assessment of whether strategies are working and/or if challenges are persisting. The documentation doesn’t have to be long but it should be consistent. Keeping daily notes helps EM leaders identify patterns in metrics and staff behavior and ensures that no stone is unturned in regard to new student recruitment.
