Speaking Well Changes Lives on Both Sides of the Podium
Nichola Gutgold, PhD, High Impact Practitioners LLC
When I tell people that I’ve spent more than thirty years teaching and coaching public speaking I get one of two distinct reactions:
“I love to speak in public and that was my favorite course!” or “I would rather die than give a speech in front of people.” Rarely is anyone in the middle of those sentiments. Sadly, I once met a young woman working in a job she hated who shared with me that the reason she did not realize her dream to go to college and become a social worker is because of what she saw on the list of required courses: Public Speaking. It was a deal breaker for her. This is tragic, don’t you agree? I tried to assure her it wasn’t too late, but she didn’t seem motivated to go back to school.
Do not let a lack of skill, preparation or fear be a deal breaker for you in your personal life, your career, or the impact you could make in your community.
I believe that the power of public speaking can change our personal lives, our professional lives, and transform communities. Being ready to Speak Up and Speak Well positions all of us to be able to respond when needed — to “say something” because saying something at the right time and place can make a lot of positive changes happen.
We never know when we will be invited to speak, and we are wise to equip ourselves with the skills needed to speak up anytime and anywhere. Let me help you prepare.
A refresher seminar for your entire staff, or one-on-one coaching will take your skills to the next level. You won’t have to just tolerate or somehow get through your next speech; you CAN be excited for the opportunity to share your information and feel the exhilaration of speaking up and speaking well.
